A YouTuber is taking the ‘new year, new me’ mantra to the next level, streaming himself 24/7 in total isolation for an entire year to “reset” his mindset and lose weight.
The YouTuber, whose goes by the name Skip, began his unique project called ‘The Isolation Year’ on January 10, 2026.
Since then, he has been consistently streaming for 24 hours each day from his home office, which includes a bathroom, a bed, and a workout area stocked with various fitness equipment.
Skip announced the ambitious project via a community post in December 2025. In his post, the streamer revealed that the goal of his broadcast is to “reset” his mind and body.

He hopes that, without any ‘escapes’ or ways to skirt accountability from his viewers, he will be able to discipline himself enough to stay consistent and develop a workout routine to get in shape.
“No distractions. No escapes. No quitting halfway. My body gets disciplined. My mind loses its escapes. I stop reacting first. I sleep on schedule. I track my weight honestly. I remove excuses instead of explaining them,” he wrote.
“I finish what I start. I sit with discomfort. I stop numbing myself. 365 days. No audience inside the room.”
In his preview stream, Skip showed off his home for the rest of the year, revealing that he has several different cameras placed around the room so chatters can get different views of his daily activities.
Those daily activities include journaling and working out, with his goal being to walk 15,000 steps per day on a walking pad and eventually installing hand-holds on the walls for rock-climbing practice.
The room also has a door that leads into a closet, through which his family members and helpers can drop off groceries and toiletries without directly engaging with him. He even invited what appeared to be his entire family into the space to check it out before locking himself away in his self-improvement chamber.
In another video, he explained that The Isolation Year is being funded by his savings, the small business that he runs, and income from his wife’s job as a registered nurse, admitting that his family will be “living poor” until his stream is over.
At the time of writing, Skip’s channel boasts over 4,000 subscribers. Commenters are eager to see if he’ll be able to manage the challenge for an entire year without seeing his family, encouraging him to see it through and attain his goals.
White his goal is certainly unique, he isn’t the only streamer to broadcast themselves 24/7 for an extended period of time. Twitch streamer ‘EmilyCC’ is famous for her never-ending broadcast, which has been running for over 1400 days.
