YouTube music subscribers have called on the platform to ‘deal with’ the rise of “AI slop” as they keep being recommended AI-generated songs.

The rise of AI, artificial intelligence, has concerned a number of different corners of the internet. However, it has been especially prevalent in artistry, music, and the content creation space.

Musicians have rallied against the use of AI in songs, and so too have subscribers of streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Spotify has come under fire for allowing AI-generated songs featuring dead artists to spring up, and they’ve had to remove 75 million “spammy” songs.

YouTube Music has also come under fire to start 2026 for similar issues with apparent AI content.

YouTube Music users sick of AI-generated songs

Subscribers to YouTube Music believe it has become overwhelmed by “AI slop” and they want it “dealt with” in the very near future.

“This is really getting ridiculous. Opened YTM today, and six out of ten News recommendations were AI slop. The other day every other song in my auto-generated playlist was AI slop. Clicking “I’m not interested” nor thumbing them down really makes no difference as it only applies to this one specific song, not the “artist,” Redditor vlastawa said

“This AI needs to be dealt with, I am for one so happy I made my playlists when I did cause 80% of the “new releases” is just AI,” another echoed.

Many have called for a way to block specific artists, so that they can avoid any AI-generated tracks. “Google really needs to implement AI filter fast. Otherwise I will cancel my subscription,” one suggested.

“We should be able to be open enough to experience music we haven’t heard before without worrying about having AI shoved down our throats,” another said.

It remains to be seen if YouTube Music will clamp down on the rise of AI-generated songs and artists, but as many note, it is a problem across the space as a whole.
