Ford is expanding its retail reach with a new partnership that lets customers shop for certified pre-owned vehicles directly through Amazon. The program launches with participating Ford dealers offering CPO inventory on the Amazon Autos storefront.
This marks Ford’s first major move into Amazon’s growing vehicle marketplace, which began opening to automakers two years ago. Unlike Amazon’s Hyundai partnership that focuses on new cars, Ford’s program centers on certified pre-owned models that have been inspected, refurbished and backed with warranty coverage.
Ford expands CPO sales as Amazon’s auto marketplace grows
Through the new setup, customers can browse available used vehicles, secure financing, start paperwork, and schedule a pickup time at participating Ford dealers. Final signatures still need to be completed in person, but most early steps happen online. Ford is offering a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee on vehicles purchased through Amazon.
More than 160 Ford dealers have begun the onboarding process, and about a dozen are already live, with additional stores launching next week. Ford plans to offer three certification levels with varying warranties. CPO inventory is currently available in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with more cities coming soon.
Amazon has also partnered with Hertz to sell used vehicles on the platform, expanding the company’s push into automotive retail. For Ford and Hyundai, the franchised dealer remains the end seller, as state laws continue to restrict direct sales of new vehicles. Used vehicle sales face fewer restrictions, which has enabled companies like Carvana and Hertz to grow online.
In a statement, Amazon Autos global leader Fan Jin said the addition of Ford’s certified pre-owned lineup brings thousands of inspected, warrantied vehicles to the platform as the company expands its automotive presence.
This comes just days after Pagani revealed a limited-edition car for sale to anyone who buys a $30,000,000 apartment in Miami.
