White Castle’s first fully automated vending machine has started going viral online, as customers have been grabbing sliders before flights in Boston.
When you’re at the airport, trying to grab some food before a flight can be a tricky decision. There might be a small selection of places open if you’ve got an early flight, there might be lines that mean you’ll cut it close on the boarding time, or you might just want to eat the in-flight meal.
There is plenty of choice at Boston’s Logan Airport, including the chance to get a Shake Shack meal if you’re flying on a domestic flight with Delta.
Now, though, travellers can also use a fully automated vending machine from White Castle to get their hands on sliders. And, it’s become a pretty big talking point online.
White Castle vending machine grabs attention of foodies
The White Castle-themed vending machines were first unveiled at the National Restaurant Show back in 2024, but they’ve now rolled out at Boston Logan Airport.
The fully automated vending machine has been around since the end of November, offering fliers the chance to grab some sliders, and select sides before they head off on their travels. It doesn’t have the full complement of a normal White Castle menu, but there’s still plenty of choice for travellers.
As some foodies have shown already, it takes a few minutes for the machine to vend your food, but it promises that the sliders will be fresh for two hours after you buy them.
One reviewer, Exploring With Josh, said that the sliders came out “smoking hot” but were “nasty-looking,” and wished another customer “good luck” after he’d eaten his order.
The vending machine obviously has a more practical use than the Pokémon card machine that was installed at the Pentagon at around the same time. That has raised plenty of eyebrows online.
