Labor Day is almost here, which means many Americans will get a well-deserved three-day weekend.

But will trash be picked up? Here’s what you should know about holiday schedules in your area.

Peoria Labor Day garbage pick-up

There will not be any garbage, yard waste or recycling pick-up on Monday, Sept. 1 in Peoria. All pick-up will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

The schedule will be as follows:

  • If your collection day is Monday, pick-up will be delayed to Tuesday.

  • If your collection day is Tuesday, pick-up will be delayed to Wednesday.

And so on.

Normal pick-up schedules will resume next week. To avoid missing a collection, residents should set out their recycling, yard waste and trash containers by 6 a.m. on their scheduled day, according to Peoria Public Works. After pickup, containers should be moved from the curb or alley to residents’ garage or alongside their houses.
