Twitch has responded to streamers who have reported being hacked and having their payment methods changed, with some receiving large donations beforehand.
With the calendar turning over to 2026, a number of Twitch streamers reported that they’ve seen changes to their payout methods that they didn’t initiate to kick off the new year. Their own bank account details had been changed to unknown emails and new PayPal links.
Some streamers, who have typically been on the smaller side when it comes to a following on Twitch, noted that they also had two-factor authentication on. However, the hackers were somehow able to bypass this.
“HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? @Twitch HELLO???,” asked streamer Kiona. “I was recently subjected to a prime sub bot raid, so I have been watching everything like a hawk and immediately contacted support,” streamer Sasuga Reina added. “For anybody else who got hit by one of these scammers, you need to check your payout information immediately.
Twitch streamers have payment methods changed
A number of affected streamers noted that they have been in contact with Twitch support over the issue, but the platform’s support service also issued a public response.
“We’re aware of this issue and working quickly to investigate,” they said, responding to questions from reporter Zach Bussey.
“We recommend that all users contact Support if you believe you’ve been impacted.”
Some streamers have reported getting “no help” from Twitch, despite contacting their support team. “Support was no help and just logged it. Some kind of help or response would be nice,” DJTICKLE added.
”The agent seemed uninterested, said they couldn’t help, and that the issue would be escalated to email as a priority. I never received that email,” VTuber Mysti said.
As others have noted, the account infiltration has come off the back of their channels being subjected to a wave of subs despite not streaming at the time.
VTuber FoxxyLilly was one of the first to report the unusual influx of new subscribers, but noted they’ve not had their payment methods affected.
It remains to be seen if the issue will become widespread and affect some of Twitch’s most notable names.
