A feud between New York Diamond District jeweler TraxNYC and Akay Diamonds escalated into violence, police involvement, and arrests in the New Year, becoming massively viral on social media as a result.

The incident centred on allegations made by TraxNYC owner Maksud Agadjani against Akay Diamonds, claiming the latter had sold jewelry falsely marketed under TraxNYC, as well as misrepresenting the value of goods.

While these claims currently remain unverified, what is confirmed is that the dispute culminated in a physical confrontation at Akay Diamonds’ booth in New York’s Diamond District.

Who are TraxNYC and Akay Diamonds

TraxNYC is a high-profile jewelry brand based in Manhattan boasting a large social media following – with over 3 million followers on Instagram alone. Agadjani frequently posts behind-the-scenes content about the jewelry trade.

Akay Diamonds is another established Diamond District retailer, run by brothers George Akay and Freddy Akay. The company operates in the same commercial area as TraxNYC.

How the dispute began

Agadjani publicly accused Akay Diamonds of selling jewellery that was allegedly misrepresented, including claims that items marketed under the TraxNYC name did not match the stated gold purity, as explained in his initial Instagram reel, uploaded on January 1, 2026.

Agadjani followed up on his initial video with another on January 2, claiming that Akay had “claimed to be me” and “ripped off” his customer by knowingly selling them a 9-carat bracelet for the price of a 14-carat item.

When asked if Akay had pretended to be TraxNYC, the customer said, “Yeah, he [Akay] tried to sell one of your products. He said that he ran out of one of your rings.”

“He said that he ran out even though he has nothing to f**king to do with me other than to steal my customers,” Agadjani interjected.

Physical confrontation and police response

In a subsequent reel published on the same day, Agadjani went to Akay Diamonds’ booth confront the owners directly. Video from the scene showed a heated argument that quickly turned physical, with multiple people involved in the altercation.

Another clip showed the man, George Akay, spitting in Agadjani’s face, leading to multiple individuals intervening. Footage overlooking the aisle from above showed numerous people involved in the altercation.

New York police responded to the incident, and George and Freddy Akay were subsequently arrested and charged with assault, according to a report by The New York Post. Agadjani was treated for injuries following the confrontation.

Footage of the arrests was subsequently circulated online. Authorities have not announced any fraud-related charges connected to the underlying business dispute.

What is confirmed and what remains allegations

What is confirmed is that a physical altercation took place, police responded, and arrests were made. Video footage of the confrontation was subsequently circulated widely online.

Claims of fraud, misrepresentation, or brand misuse remain unproven. Those accusations come solely from Agadjani and have not been independently verified through court proceedings or official findings. Akay Diamonds has denied wrongdoing.
