Over the last few years, the trading card hobby has boomed in popularity once again. Pokemon cards, sports cards, and everything in between have skyrocketed in price, with a number of celebrities and entrepreneurs getting involved.

Six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady has been right at the front of that too. The former New England Patriots quarterback has spent big money on rookie cards of himself, and finally signed incredibly exclusive cards along the way too.

Well, the NYPD have revealed that his Soho, New York shop was robbed on October 20 for around $9700 worth of collectible cards.

The police department announced that the man had tricked staff into believing that he had paid for the items in question. In reality, his transaction had been declined, and he “began to enter manual prompts into the contact payment terminal without the employee’s knowledge to bypass the transaction being declined.”

The suspect is wanted for Grand Larceny, with a number of photos being published to try and help police with their search.

As per ABC, Brady purchased a 50% stake in CardVault in February 2025, and the New York store had only just opened prior to the robbery.

Pokemon cards have become increasingly more common targets for thieves over the last few years, with a number of stores across the world having some of their rarest stock stolen. Cards can be worth tens of thousands, depending on their quality.

The specific cards that were stolen have not been mentioned by the police.
