Figure AI has created a humanoid robot, which it claims can clean, water plants, and perform other basic tasks around the home with frightening precision.

Figure AI calls itself a “first-of-its-kind AI robotics company,” whose mission is “bringing a general-purpose humanoid to life.”

It appears to have achieved this goal with its latest invention, a humanoid robot called the Figure 03. This robot looks like a high-tech crash test dummy and moves like a human, boasting several technical innovations to help it navigate and carry out simple objectives.

The Figure 03 runs on Helix, which the company describes as a “vision-language-action AI” that helps it ‘think’ and turn visual inputs into actions. Essentially, it’s the brains of the operation.

The 5’8″ bot has a sensory suite and hand system, as well as a “next-generation” vision system Figure AI specially engineered for high-frequency visuomotor control.

The Figure 03 brings science fiction to life

Its website advertising the Figure 03 shows it cleaning dishes in a sink, carrying a tray filled with food, and even performing more complex tasks like operating a washing machine, choosing which cycle the load of laundry should be cleaned in.

What’s most impressive is the dexterity with which the Figure 03 uses its hands and fingers. According to Figure AI, its hands are embedded with a palm camera, offering visual feedback during grasping movements and helping it maintain “continuous, adaptive control in real time.”

“Our goal is to deliver a truly general-purpose robot – one that can perform human-like tasks and learn directly from people,” Figure AI said.

They’re thinking in the long-term, saying the Figure 03 is designed for production at scale. In fact, Figure AI has created a supply chain and “entirely new process for manufacturing humanoid robots” at BotQ, its in-house manufacturing facility.

“We want the robot to be able to do most things in your home, autonomously, all day… We’re not there yet. We think we can get there in 2026, but it’s a big push,” Figure’s founder and CEO, Brett Adcock, told Time.

Compared to their previous models, Figure says the 03 can be made at a “lower manufacturing cost” — but its potential price point is still somewhat high.

Earlier in 2025, Adcock speculated that Figure might sell the 03 at $20,000 – $30,000, a price tag similar to that of a gently-used car these days.

While the Figure 03 isn’t exactly ready for mass-consumption, and only currently available to select clients, Figure as a company has already sold some of its previous models to other brands like BMW, who use the Figure 02 on assembly lines putting together car parts.

This is the latest technological marvel sparking both awe and dread among humans after an influencer left the internet shocked when she visited a hotel in Japan completely staffed by robots.
