An armed robber posed as a delivery driver to steal $11 million worth of cryptocurrency in San Francisco, and they’re seemingly still at large.
Crypto millionaires have increasingly become targets for thieves who want to try and make money fast.
Streaming star Amouranth and her husband had armed thieves invade their home back in March, as they demanded that she hand over access to her crypto wallets. Her husband fired three shots at the would-be robbers, hitting one of them, and forcing them to flee.
On November 22, San Francisco Police responded to a robbery in the Mission Dolores neighborhood after a thief pretended to be a delivery person in order to invade a victim’s home and steal their cryptocurrency.

As per the San Francisco Chronicle, the robbery occurred around 6:45 a.m. on November 22, as a person pretended to be a courier.
The thief ultimately brandished a gun at their victim and proceeded to tie them up with duct tape, before making off with their laptop, phone, and around $11 million in cryptocurrency.
According to the Chronicle’s report, police did not report whether the victim was injured or if the attacker was apprehended. They have attempted to speak with the homeowner, but have not been able to do so as of yet.
As noted, crypto-related crimes have been on the rise, and while home invasions have become more common, scams are still the biggest form of crypto robbery.
47-year-old Zhimin Qian, nicknamed the “Goddess of Wealth”, was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison after stealing billions from investors in one of the biggest Bitcoin frauds to date.
Qian’s scheme defrauded almost 130,000 victims, pulling in an estimated $7.2 billion before collapsing. Much of that money was converted into Bitcoin and moved overseas.
