Syko Stu, real name Stewart Smith, has regained consciousness after being attacked by Raja Jackson during a wrestling show. However, he still has “serious injuries”.
On August 23, Raja Jackson, the son of UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, took part in an independent wrestling show while live on Kick. Jackson had, initially, been part of a planned stunt with wrestler Syko Stu, who had hit him with a drink.
However, Jackson was encouraged to get into the ring and take revenge on Stu. He landed around 20 punches to the wrestler’s head, threw him to the ground, and had to be physically restrained by other performers at the show.
Stu has been in the hospital since the attack, with a police investigation underway. Though there have been some positive updates about his condition.
Syko Stu “alert” after Raja Jackson incident according to The Epic
As per fellow wrestler The Epic, real name Douglas Malo, Smith has regained consciousness and is “alert” in the hospital.
“He remembers most of what happened during the early parts of the day, he’s talking a little bit, he’s alert,” Malo told TMZ Sports. “He’s just got some injuries that are very serious. Not life-threatening serious, but facial injuries, stuff like that.”
Malo flagged his concern about possible head injuries that could prolong Smith’s recovery. “I’m worried. He’s going to miss a lot of work, he might need therapy, he might need a lot of things,” he added.
The wrestler had previously called the attack “attempted murder” and pointed the finger at another wrestler, AJ Mana, for bringing Jackson to the show.
“I think the premediation part comes on the side of AJ Mana. You brought somebody that was volatile, you knew had issues,” he said on the Scaling Up Podcast.
The GoFundMe for Smith’s recovery is approaching $200,000, with YouTube star MrBeast donating $10,000. A number of top-level wrestlers have also donated sizable sums, including $2500 from Chris Jericho.
Malo is unsure if Smith will “press charges” against Jackson, however. His father, Quinton Jackson, said he has received “death threats” over the incident, and hopes Stu can forgive what happened.
