Starbucks is introducing Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam to its menus across the United States and Canada starting September 29, 2025. The additions are permanent and come as part of the company’s push to expand protein options.
Protein Lattes are made with protein-boosted milk, which is 2% dairy blended in store with unflavored protein powder. A Grande size contains between 27 and 36 grams of protein, nearly double the amount in a regular latte made with 2% milk.
Protein Cold Foam adds around 15 grams of protein on top of a Grande iced drink, with totals ranging from 19 to 26 grams depending on the beverage.
Customers will be able to choose from a variety of flavors, including banana, vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar, and seasonal pumpkin or pecan.
Part of Starbucks’ protein expansion
Alongside the new drinks, Starbucks customers can substitute protein-boosted milk in any beverage. The swap adds 12 to 16 grams of protein per Grande serving.
The company said the rollout comes after a successful test through its “Starting 5” innovation program and reflects growing demand for protein. According to Starbucks, most Americans now consider protein a key part of their diet.
The trend of adding protein to drinks has taken over social media throughout the last few years, including the protein Diet Coke trend on TikTok that saw moms adding Fairlife protein shakes to their favorite soda.
