Staff behind the Unscripted GTA RP server have responded to viral clips of roleplayers taking part in a “death camp” event.

Grand Theft Auto roleplay, GTA RP to many, has been a popular form of content on Twitch over the years. A number of massive servers have popped up, too, with plenty of roleplayers wanting to get involved.

While the majority of things that happen on servers are unscripted, there are times when everyone gets involved with a scripted server-wide event. This can be anything from electing a new mayor to a car show, or a Purge night.

In the case of Unscripted RP, they had an event which turned into a ‘death camp’ on their server. Players playing the role of army members were committing war crimes, rounding up civilians, emergency services, and others, before executing them at Fort Zancudo with guns and gas.

These clips went viral on social media, prompting criticism of the server and those involved with running the event in question.

One of the server staff, GTSpark, responded to it all via Discord. “First of all, we want to thank all the players who took part in the event today. We had a lot of people turn up for what was looking to be an epic battle for justice and control of the state,” they said.

“Though we did expect a degree of unruliness, there were unfortunately far too many bad actors who chose to take advantage of this situation to grief the server and interfere with the RP of other players. Many have already been handled, and we will continue to investigate logs and player reports stemming from the event.”

GTSpark, who is also a member of Twitch staff, also shut down the idea of the server coming to a close because of what happened.

Rockstar Games, who produce the Grand Theft Auto series, have previously taken strong stances against servers that may land them in any legal trouble. Servers have had to remove references to real-world cars and clothing brands. So, they’ll likely keep an eye on things.
