Spotify is increasing the cost of multiple Premium subscriptions and users will be forced to pay as much as $21.99 a month in some cases.

The price hike is the third in the US since 2023, but America isn’t the only country affected. In addition to the United States, Estonia and Latvia will also be seeing their Premium subscription costs increased.

“Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists,” the music streaming app explained.

In emails to subscribers, the platform further justified its decision in order to “keep delivering a great experience.”

Spotify increases prices for individual, family, student and duo accounts

Starting in February, the price for an individual Premium plan will go up from $11.99 to $12.99, but it’s not the only tier or plan getting a price hike.

Students will also be paying more, with the discounted student pricing getting changed to $6.99, a full dollar more.

Duo and Family plans are seeing the largest price increase, with the two-person offer now costing $18.99 while Family will set users back $21.99 a month. Both plans had their prices upped by a couple of bucks each.

Spotify isn’t the only platform to have upped its subscription costs lately.

This increase comes just months after Disney Plus announced a monumental price hike with some yearly subscriptions going from $79.99 to $159.99.

Last year, YouTube Premium also saw its costs go up by up to 62% for its earliest adopters after over 10 years of paying a grandfathered price.
