A giant, runaway pig was hauled in by police after it wandered into a house and was stuck in a “standoff” for a pack of crackers with the homeowners.
When it comes to having an unexpected animal guest in your house, you might think of a mouse, a bug, or, at a push, a bird. However, if you’re in Florida, you might even find a giant lizard deciding to invade your space.
In Ellenboro, North Carolina, a homeowner had a surprise guest in the form of something a little bigger than a rat – as a giant pig wandered into their home.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the pig entered into the house on February 16, and had “zero fear” when it came to demanding a treat from the homeowners.
Pig broke into home for treat with “zero fear”
“A pig had made its way inside a home in the Ellenboro area. The unexpected guest showed zero fear, maximum confidence, and the motive seemed to be finding snacks,” they posted on Facebook.
“After a short standoff involving a pack of crackers and some highly questionable negotiations, deputies successfully convinced the sus-pig-ious individual to surrender.
“She was taken into custody without further incident and transported to our good friends at Rutherford County Animal Control Services, operated by Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue.”
The pig was reunited with the owner after being wrangled in by police. “I can’t thank you enough for the job well done on capturing my lil victim!” the owner said. “This is the first time she’s ever left the yard.”
The officers also saw the funny side of things. “Moments like this remind us that community policing is not always lights and sirens,” they said. “Sometimes it is arresting a pig for breaking and entering.”
Also in North Carolina, officers had to stop a 12-year-old who was driving himself to school after missing the bus.
