Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday that he had been “briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School” in Minneapolis, describing it as a “horrific act of violence.”
The incident is being characterized as a mass casualty event, but further information wasn’t immediately clear. Authorities in Minneapolis say the school shooter has been “contained” and is no longer an active threat to the community, according to the Associated Press.
Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino posted on X that the “FBI is aware of the reports coming out of @FBIMinneapolis and our agents are en route to the scene. We will provide more updates as able.”
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, State Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also on the scene.
