A well-known South Korean YouTuber has been found dead just days after publicly speaking out about their health issues in a livestream.
Na Dong-hyun, better known online as Dae Library, was discovered at his home in Seoul on Saturday, September 6. The 46-year-old creator’s friends contacted police after he failed to show up to a scheduled meeting and could not be reached.
According to local outlet Chosun, police and fire officials entered his home and found him already deceased. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of foul play or a suicide note. They are currently investigating the possibility of death from an pre-existing illness.
“There is currently no suspicion of foul play. We are considering the possibility of death from an underlying illness and plan to determine the exact cause through an autopsy,” police said in a statement.
Dae Library’s last broadcast raised concerns
Dae Library had complained of chest pains and severe fatigue during his final streams. At one point, he told viewers: “My heart feels a stabbing pain.”
In another comment, he admitted to running on only three hours of sleep as he was attending Seoul Fashion Week, before going live for more than five hours.
His sudden death has left fans stunned, with many noting how visibly exhausted he appeared in recent weeks.
Dae Library was one of Korea’s most established creators, amassing over 1.4 million subscribers since launching his channel in 2010. His content included commentary, livestreams, and variety-style gaming broadcasts.
In 2015, he married fellow influencer Yumdeng. The pair were married for eight years before divorcing in 2023.
Dae’s death comes on the heels of several other high-profile losses in the creator world. Earlier this year, Los Angeles-based YouTuber P2istheName died from sudden cardiac dysfunction.
More recently, French Kick streamer Jean Pormanove died in his sleep at the same age of 46, following a series of controversial broadcasts where other creators were accused of “torturing” him for content.
Fans across social media are now mourning Dae Library, remembering him as a pioneer in Korea’s YouTube scene whose influence spanned more than a decade.
