Police arrest suspect after TikTok star Ko Tin Zaw Htwe found dead in Thailand

Myanmar social media star Ko Tin Zaw Htwe, also known as ‘irrawaddyma,’ has been found dead in a forest in Thailand, with authorities confirming that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.

The 25-year-old creator was discovered in the Mae Sot district on January 20, according to Thai news outlet Thairath. Htwe had built a following of more than 947,000 on TikTok, where he regularly posted lifestyle clips, dancing videos, and content featuring his partner.

Police in the area were alerted to the discovery in the afternoon, with officers from the Mae Sot Police Station arriving at the scene shortly after 4 PM on January 20. Thairath reported that Htwe’s body was found in a grassy area beneath a large tree in the forest.

Police arrest suspect as investigation continues

Police Colonel Rang Dawadung, Superintendent of Mae Sot Police Station, told Thairath that a single suspect had been arrested in connection with Htwe’s death and that authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.

Htwe’s apparent final social media post was shared on January 19, when he uploaded a TikTok video lip syncing to a popular song while showing off a new T-shirt.

Following reports of his death, fans left tributes in the comments across his social media pages.

“It hurts my heart how quickly a human life is taken away.” one user wrote.

“I’m sorry, may God bless you,” shared another.

A third added, “May you live a happy and beautiful life in the next life. RIP.”

On January 23, it was also revealed that TikToker Mackenzie Paul had died at 26 years old due to leukemia.
