PlaqueBoyMax fell short in his first-ever Grammy appearance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, but the streamer-turned-artist quickly shut down any backlash with a level-headed response to the loss.
At the ceremony on February 1, 2026, PlaqueBoyMax was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Victory Lap,” a collaborative track with Fred again.. and Skepta. The award ultimately went to Tame Impala, who won the category with “End of Summer.”
The nomination marked a major milestone for PlaqueBoyMax, who became the first Twitch streamer in history to receive a Grammy nomination. “Victory Lap” was also notable for being created live on Twitch, with its production unfolding in real time in front of thousands of viewers, blurring the line between streaming culture and traditional music industry workflows.
Plaqueboymax responds to Grammy loss
PlaqueBoyMax faced stiff competition in the category, which also included Disclosure and Anderson .Paak for “No Cap,” Kaytranada for “Space Invader,” and Skrillex for “Voltage.”
After the winner was announced, PlaqueBoyMax addressed the result directly on his Twitch stream, making it clear he had no issue with the outcome. “We lost. No rigged comment. They won fair and square,” he told viewers.
He added that the night was far from over, saying the stream would continue as he headed to the red carpet, before offering a message to his audience: “Don’t miss your next blessing cause you’re worried about the last loss. Don’t turn one L into seven.”
While he did not take home a Grammy, PlaqueBoyMax was still recognized during Grammy Week, receiving the Billboard Disruptor Award for his role in bridging live streaming and mainstream music.
