Pabst Blue Ribbon is making beer and kaiju lovers’ dreams come true with a gigantic 99-pack as part of a collab with Godzilla.
Godzilla is King of the Monsters, and while the King of Beer may already be taken, Pabst is coming for that title.
On January 15, the beer company revealed a massive 99-pack as part of team-up with Godzilla, with each can featuring special artwork of Toho’s legendary monsters including Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Mechagodzilla.
“It’s not our style to spend millions of dollars for a few seconds of airtime during the big game,” Rachel Keeton, Senior Brand Director of Pabst Blue Ribbon said.
“Instead, we’re getting in on the post-season action in a way our drinkers can have some fun with. The Godzilla 99pk is here to loudly crash tailgates and watch parties everywhere.”
With the Super Bowl in February, this collab is the perfect time for fans to get their hands on enough beer to last through the NFL playoffs and into the biggest game.
Godzilla and Pabst go big with a 99-pack of beer
Each can’s artwork was designed by ATTACK Peter, who had worked on previous collabs between the two in which his monster art was put on 60 million PBR cans.
The artist says he was shocked when he was told about the 99 pack, recalling how his response was “A WHAT pack??”
“The 99 pack is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen and I knew they were going to MOVE, so I incorporated some designs of the Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla soaring into action,” he said. “And don’t underestimate the Mothra larva crawling its way onto the package; they’re no strangers to mixing it up with the biggest bads.”
The only drawback? Pabst is only putting together 4000 of these 99 packs, so if you see one in stores, you may not have another chance. Just be sure you have a large enough car, because these things are gigantic.
Photos of the 99 packs in stores who a retail price of $99.99, so at a buck a beer, it’s actually not that bad of a deal either.
You could even use them to literally re-enact “99 bottles of beer on the wall” – just with cans instead of bottles.
