ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A jury found a New Mexico man guilty of killing his girlfriend. In January 2024, police say Alexander Ortiz shot his girlfriend, Alianna Farfan. Court documents said Ortiz shot her inside a bedroom during an argument. Police said Ortiz escaped by jumping out of a window.

Just days after that incident, he was accused of shooting and killing Nicole Maldonado at the Adam Food Market. During a routine court hearing in February, family members of Alianna Farfan jumped over the partition and started punching Ortiz. He is facing a minimum sentence of life in prison.
