Georgia’s manufacturing industry is now in the toilet in a good way.
Last week, TOTO plumbing company announced the opening of its new $224 million factory. Here’s what we know:
What is TOTO?
TOTO is a Japanese company that makes luxury toilets, faucets, bidets, and other bathroom-related products. It’s reportedly the word’s largest plumbing manufacturer with more than $5.34 billion in annual sales.
Where is TOTO’s factory in Georgia?
The new factory is located in Morrow about 10 miles south of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. They also have another facility in south Atlanta in the Sylvan Hills area.
What is at TOTO’s new factory in Georgia?
The new factory will create high-end, one-piece toilets using “next-generation manufacturing technology” including dozens of automated robots and vehicles, new kilns, and the company’s first tank-bonding robot.
Why did TOTO build a factory in Georgia?
TOTO’s production capacity is increased by about 300,000 units per year. The new factory is also part of the company’s plan to shift more production from Asia-based plants to North America, strengthening its regional supply chain and advancing its long-term sustainability goals.
