Netflix has revealed that it will soon start showing some of Spotify’s biggest video podcasts, but you’re out of luck if you’re hoping to watch Joe Rogan on there.
When Spotify signed Joe Rogan back in 2020, the streaming platform had to make some changes to accommodate his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Aside from a comments section, the biggest one was the ability to broadcast video podcasts.
Since being added five years ago, video has now started having a bigger presence on Spotify. There are, of course, video podcasts, plenty of songs have music videos in the background, and video adverts pop up from time to time as well.
In that time, Netflix has been branching out from just a video streaming platform too. There are live shows on there now, live sports broadcasts, and you can even play video games as well.
Netflix will broadcast The Ringer podcasts soon
In their newest move, Netflix have teamed up with one of Spotify’s biggest podcast networks, The Ringer, to bring some of their video podcasts over.
Starting in early 2026, the Bill Simmons-owned network will have 16 podcasts broadcast on Netflix too. This includes The Rewatchables movie podcast, Simmons’ self-titled sports show, The Big Picture, and two of their true crime offerings.
The majority of these podcasts will be sports-based; however, with The Ringer’s F1, NFL, NBA, and Fantasy Football shows all joining Netflix. These dominate Spotify’s sports podcast charts.
These podcasts will remain available on Spotify too, and should stay on YouTube as well. The Bill Simmons Podcast has been a staple on his own YouTube channel since the sports writer left ESPN.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, more of The Ringer’s podcasts will likely be available on Netflix as time passes. However, they have not named any more.
This isn’t the first external partnership that Spotify has been involved in recently, either. They penned a deal with ChatGPT to provide AI-curated podcasts for Premium subscribers.
