A mysterious YouTube video that is 140 years long has been going viral over the last few days as it has confused pretty much everyone who has come across it.
Over the years, there have been plenty of confusing and mysterious videos uploaded to YouTube. Some don’t hang around too long and are pretty much a blink and you’ll miss it sort of thing.
However, there are plenty of others that have sat undetected for a long time. Some of these uploads have a life beyond YouTube and aren’t meant to be consumed by viewers who have a stacked subscription box. Still, they do pique the interest of pretty much everyone who comes across them.
That has been the case with a new video, uploaded by a channel supposedly based in North Korea, that doesn’t actually show anything.
Blank YouTube videos that hundreds of years long appears everywhere
The video, which is titled with a question mark symbol, was uploaded to the channel ShinyWR at the start of January. It is 140 years long, so it’s not something you can just sit down and consume easily.
It has garnered more than 1.4 million viewers over the last week too, with many just being left completely baffled by the situation.
“What on Earth. why is there a 140-year-long video on YouTube,” one said. “Probably just some smart kid with a weekend to spare getting a little fame off YouTube. Idk how he overloaded the YouTube 128gb/12 hour limit though,” another added.
“Found it really weird and I was like oh might be a joke video but doesn’t even load or work for me,” another chimed in.
Some users have suggested that the channel is a tester page for YouTube that wasn’t supposed to be picked up by the public. Others believe it is linked to an ARG (alternate reality game) and it has spread like wildfire to garner interest.
It isn’t the only video on the channel, either. There is another that is 294 hours in length, a short that lasts 150 hours, and a 300-hour-long stream.
It remains to be seen what becomes of the channel, but for now, it’s got everyone confused.
