YouTube star Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has revealed that he was supposed to record an episode of the Joe Rogan Podcast on top of the Pyramids in Egypt. However, something came up.
After summiting the YouTube mountain, MrBeast has become a household name. Aside from getting his own show on Amazon Prime Video, he’s also appeared on talk shows, starred in adverts for the NFL, and been used in Super Bowl commercials.
Donaldson has also appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, chatting about life, charity, internet fame, and everything else in between. That one and only appearance came back in June 2024, and like everyone else whose appeared, he’d like to get back on to record a follow-up episode.
That was almost a reality, and it would have been Rogan’s most spectacular episode to date, as it would have pulled him out of his own studio and over to Egypt.
MrBeast planned JRE Podcast episode on Egyptian Pyramids
Speaking on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! Podcast, MrBeast explained that, when he was able to film at the Pyramids of Giza for 100 hours, he had planned to record with Rogan.
“We were this close to doing a podcast with Joe Rogan on top of the pyramid,” he told the former Jackass star.
“He couldn’t make it out, he couldn’t make it work, he had a conflict of scehdule and I couldn’t move it because the day you get the pyramids are just the f**king days you get the pyramid. I thought it would be so funny.”
Timestamp of 17:30
The YouTube star noted that Rogan rarely travels internationally, so he wasn’t sure if the schedule conflict was just an excuse.
“Imagine we’re on top of the middle of the pyramid, it’s just his normal desk and we’re sitting on top on the tip, and we’re just cranking out a podcast, I thought that would have been so cool,” he added. “You can’t climb there, so we would have had to go up there by helicopter.”
Donaldson confirmed that the Egyptian Government had signed off on the idea and he had been in discussions with them for three years. It just didn’t work out for Rogan in the end.
