MrBeast recently revealed that he is “borderline blind” in his right eye after a viewer pointed out that “his eyes never smile.”
For a creator as big as MrBeast, criticism is just part of the job, no matter how much charity work he’s done.
But according to Jimmy himself, the biggest criticism he receives is about his eyes, something that’s allegedly out of his control.
Though he’s addressed similar remarks before, this is the first time he’s gone into detail about an eye condition that makes things a little trickier than you might expect in the line of content creation.
MrBeast explains the reason why his eyes look “off”
The post that gained traction featured a close-up of MrBeast’s eyes alongside the remark. It was only a matter of hours before MrBeast replied.
“I love how the biggest criticism of me is about my eyes, which are out of my control. I’m borderline blind in my right eye. The reason they look off is because I have to squint to see better, even with my contacts in,” he wrote, adding that there’s nothing he can do about it.
The user behind the post later apologized.
“Well, I haven’t seen any of your videos, so I can’t really comment on them. But if it’s a vision thing then fair enough, sorry you’re blind, man. That sucks,” he replied.
Many people defended MrBeast in the comments and urged for the post to be taken down, arguing that criticizing someone’s appearance crosses a line.
Another user called it a “perfect example” of why people shouldn’t judge others based on their appearance.
“You never know what physical struggles someone is going through behind the scenes. Respect to Jimmy for being open about it.”
For longtime fans, the revelation may also recall his 2023 video, funding surgeries for 1,000 blind people. While he’s paying for others, the claim he has “negative money” in his own bank account may be preventing him from fixing his own eyesight.
