YouTube icon MrBeast is considering the idea of live streaming his viral challenges instead of posting them as videos, as told during a broadcast with fellow influencer Marlon Garcia.
Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson might be a game show host on Amazon Prime, but he’s best known for his viral videos on YouTube, racking up hundreds of millions of views per upload.
While he’s done the occasional live stream in the past — usually for fundraising efforts like Team Seas and other charitable projects — he’s made a name for himself by regularly posting videos for the last 14 years.
However, it seems the YouTube juggernaut could be considering the switch to live streaming, as he floated the idea to Marlon during a collaborative broadcast on February 19.
MrBeast hints at “big” idea for future live stream
MrBeast appeared alongside Twitch star Marlon Garcia for a special collab when he asked the streamer about his thoughts on shifting his viral challenge videos into a live broadcast format.
“You know, I want to become a live streamer, Marlon. How do I do it?” he asked the influencer.
“You’re doing it right now,” Marlon answered. “You’re doing a great job. You have 400,000 people looking at you.”
“What should I stream?” MrBeast queried. “Like, if I wanted to go live next week, what should I do? …I wanna do something big. What if I put 100 people in a circle and stream it. And the last one to leave wins a million dollars.”
Putting people in a circle is standard fare for MrBeast. He’s done this exact challenge quite a few times in the past, but has never live streamed it nor offered such a large cash prize.
MrBeast is known for pitting contestants against each other in similar games for eye-popping amounts of money, but live streaming the competition to its end would be a game-changer for the YouTube star.
Donaldson isn’t a noob when it comes to streaming; as previously mentioned, he’s done a few of his own, and has even collaborated with major streamers like xQc and Adin Ross to help raise awareness for his charitable work in the past.
In the past, MrBeast has lamented that YouTubers aren’t as ‘tight-knit’ as live streamers on Twitch or Kick. He’s gotten together some of the platform’s biggest creators for huge video projects in the past; perhaps he aims to do the same with his potential streams.
