Popular YouTuber MoistCr1TiKaL revealed how he made an astronomical $35M on YouTube after disabling monetization on the platform.

On October 9, Charles ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White Jr revealed he would be turning off monetization on both YouTube and Twitch by disabling super chats, channel memberships, and encouraging viewers to avoid subscribing to him on Twitch.

According to the creator, he did this so fans wouldn’t “waste” their money on him and instead urged viewers with a need to spend to give to charities instead, if anything.

A week later, MoistCr1TiKaL followed up on this announcement by doubling down on his decision to turn off monetization and leaked his total YouTube earnings since he first started back in 2007.

To begin, Charles showed off his Twitch earnings, explaining that he only really started streaming back in 2017.

“From 2017 to 2019 I made $55,500,” he said, revealing he had just over 14,000 subscriptions without streaming full-time. “It was just a bit of goofing around, having some fun.”

From 2019 to 2021, his time spent streaming increased significantly, and so did his revenue, clocking in at $1,285,782. This was also before he had a Twitch contract, so the ads that were running on his stream were prerolls inserted by the platform itself.

Following this, after acquiring a contract that necessitated three minutes of ads per hour, he accumulated $4,158,749 from the start of 2021 to the end of 2024.

According to Moist, those numbers don’t even include sponsors or brand deals, so he was actually making even more money than shown.

“Compare that to a normal person actually working their ass off every single day in a 9-5, grinding in hopes of chasing the American dream, and they come home, maybe turn on my stream and donate a couple dollars to me. It doesn’t sit right with me, taking that kind of money, given what I’ve made from all of this,” he said.

“I really should have stopped this a long time ago, especially considering this is just the Twitch side of things.”

After showcasing his Twitch stats, Moist followed this up by flashing his YouTube profit, a massive lifetime revenue of $35.8M.

“I never imagined that amount of money was possible to earn without being born rich. I have said since say one, I got incredibly lucky. I’m not special. I got lucky.”

In total, YouTube ads made up the overwhelming majority of his YT profit, coming in at $37.7M. His memberships were second at a significantly smaller $560K, Super chats pulled in $508K and ads on Shorts did only $2,500.

However, he only had memberships and Supers for “around a year,” so they would have grown much higher had he kept them enabled.

The creator ended the video by saying he “doesn’t care” that YouTubers who make more money than him still have subs and donations on, because he’s “not trying to lead some sort of revolution.”

He added he’s noticed a “multitude of creators” have underplayed how well off they are financially because they view it as a brand risk, because their audience would no longer find them to be relatable.

Moist hopes that by exposing his earnings, a total of $41.3M from Twitch and YouTube combined, fans will realize how well off other big creators are, as well.
