Impaulsive cohost Mike Majlak has issued a detailed response after SteveWillDoIt walked off the show less than 40 minutes into his appearance, sparking debate across social media about what happened behind the scenes.
The episode, filmed shortly after Steve announced his December return to YouTube following the end of his ban, saw the NELK founder abruptly leave the set twice and make comments that had to be censored or removed in post.
Majlak explained that he personally invited Steve onto the podcast, noting that the two are close friends outside of the public eye.
According to a statement made on X, the tension began once Steve started “drinking heavily” mid-show. Majlak said that while it was Steve’s choice, the shift led to comments that “in no world could see the light of day” without causing serious consequences for Steve’s YouTube comeback.
Majlak says over 20 minutes of conversation were cut from the episode
To prevent that outcome, Majlak said the team cut more than 20 minutes of footage, which he claims disrupted the pacing of the episode and may have made the hosts’ reactions look “more aggressive.”
He added that Logan Paul only asked Steve to pull back after multiple warnings, and that Steve was never kicked off the set.
The YouTuber said Steve chose to leave on his own, despite the hosts trying to calm the situation and redirect the conversation. He pointed out that moments where he attempted to help Steve explain himself or settle the energy were overshadowed by clipped sections circulating online.
Mike also clarified that he decided to still release the episode, citing the cost and work involved in producing each Impaulsive recording.
Because Steve was his guest, he felt responsible for the travel, budget, and time spent on the shoot. He said he believed heavy edits would protect Steve while still giving viewers an episode that could open discussions around mental health and substance use.
X: Mike MajlakMajlak acknowledged that airing the episode “maybe wasn’t the right move,” but said he stands by taking accountability for it.
The Impaulsive cohost ended his statement by confirming that he and Steve spoke the night before and that “there’s literally no static.” He said Steve was not hurt or upset, and described the reaction online as fitting “perfectly” into Steve’s current content trajectory.
