The latest KPop group making waves in the music industry isn’t a trio of demon hunters; they’re furries, and their songs are reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners on Spotify.

BASTTIE is a KPop boy band made up of five members: Amber, Boreum, Dir, Kkami and Shinnyong.

Unlike most mainstream pop groups, these artists are furries, meaning they wear custom-made ‘fursuits’ of their own unique animal characters called ‘fursonas.’

The name ‘BASTTIE’ stands for ‘BASTard Teens in Everywhere,’ which, according to their website, means ‘naughty but cute boys around your neighborhood.’

Furry Kpop boy band’s debut single album breaks 300K streams

The group’s debut single album, First Step, is out on most major music streaming platforms, and it’s already making waves.

At the time of writing, the song has racked up over 303K streams on Spotify, making them the first all-furry Kpop group to reach this milestone. Its accompanying music video on YouTube has garnered over 191K views.

There are three different versions of the song: one in Korean, one in Japanese, and an instrumental version for fans to sing along by themselves.

The news is going viral across social media. This is many people’s first time ever hearing of the group, which has been active since early 2024. In the past, they’ve covered SEVENTEEN’s Pretty U, and have released two solo songs for members Amber and Shinnyoung.

Users on social media are equal parts baffled and excited for this group’s latest achievement, with one writing on YouTube, “My full respects to all the members for doing the whole MV and choreo while wearing the suits.”

“We got a furry boy band before GTA 6,” another joked.

“You guys need to get popular so we can get photocards and merch,” another urged.

Thanks to the popularity of ‘First Step,’ BASTTIE has already broken through to audiences worldwide. Only time will tell if they’ll get to the level of KPop Demon Hunters, though.
