Markiplier’s debut film, ‘Iron Lung,’ is celebrating its theatrical release with a blood drive in hopes of breaking the world record for most blood donations in a single day.
Iron Lung is set to hit theaters on January 30, 2026. The movie is an adaptation of the hit indie horror game of the same name, set on a distant moon covered in an ocean of blood.
Blood is a central facet of both the game and the film. In fact, Markiplier surmises that he may have broken the world record for most fake blood ever used in a movie, boasting that he needed over 80,000 gallons of the stuff during production.
In celebration of the bloodbath, certain theaters showing Iron Lung across the United States are holding blood drives to help ease the current blood shortage and break another world record for a good cause.
Iron Lung celebrates release with special blood drive
The Red Cross has reported a severe blood shortage, stating there’s been a 35% decrease in supply as hospital demand has skyrocketed this January. Intense winter weather, combined with seasonal illnesses like the flu, have put a significant strain on the system.
Markiplier’s Iron Lung blood drive is aiming to ease this shortage, as well as break the current world record for most blood donations given in a single day.
Currently, that number sits at 37,018 donations… but fans can break that record if they show up in force on Iron Lung’s opening night.
How to participate in Markiplier’s Iron Lung blood drive
To donate, you’ll need to be at least 16 years old and at least 110 – 135 lbs, depending on local requirements. Make sure to bring your ID and stay hydrated before donating; donors must feel healthy at the time of donating and be thoroughly nourished.
What’s more, you don’t even need to purchase a movie ticket to donate blood at these theaters, though if you plan on staying to watch, it’s recommended to donate prior to sitting down in the theater.
Even if there isn’t a participating theater near you, you can still donate blood at your local donation center using a special RSVP link on the official Iron Lung website.

Aside from his status as an internet star, Mark is also known for using his fame for good causes, with him and his fans donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofit organizations over the course of his career.
This news follows the reveal of the official Iron Lung popcorn bucket, which fans can purchase at Regal theaters across the United States. You can even 3D print your own bucket and bring it to a Regal cinema to get a small popcorn for free.
