YouTube star-turned-independent filmmaker Markiplier revealed that he has plans to create more movies following the breakout success of his debut horror flick ‘Iron Lung.’

Iron Lung has already surpassed its less than $3M budget ahead of its official release date, earning $3.5M in ticket sales from early screenings alone.

The movie is expected to make $9M – $10M in its opening weekend in a massive achievement for the influencer’s first foray into film, and it won’t be his last.

Markiplier answered fan questions at a post-screening Q&A on January 29, where he responded to queries about the possibility of making more movies in the future.

Markiplier says he’ll “obviously” make more movies

Markiplier might be a YouTuber first and foremost, but he’s had plenty of experience crafting massive projects both in front of and behind the camera.

For instance, he created and acted in his own interactive series ‘A Heist with Markiplier’ and ‘In Space with Markiplier,’ the latter of which was nominated for Outstanding Interactive Media at the 2022 Emmy Awards, not to mention starring in Amazon Prime series ‘The Edge of Sleep.’

Where Iron Lung is concerned, Mark says he’s learned a lot from making his first movie, and hopes to use this knowledge, along with what he’s taken from his past work, into more films in the future.

“Yes, obviously I’ll be making more stuff,” he answered. “I learned so much. This [Iron Lung] is not without flaws. There are many flaws in this, and I can see them, probably more glaringly than anybody because I’ve been staring at it for three years.

“But I’ve learned an incredible amount from this. And I’ve learned three years’ worth of experience on how to improve the craft. Same with, you know, doing ‘Heist’ and ‘In Space,’ all of those things were stepping stones and learning experiences, getting in deep and being willing to just chuck something up there.”

Fans are already speculating what his next movie might be, with many hoping for another indie video game adaptation of titles he’s played on his channels in the past.

For now, Mark is basking in the jaw-dropping success of his first-ever feature film, which we got the chance to see early and gave a 4/5 stars in our review of the unexpectedly solid flick.
