Linus Tech Tips creator Linus Sebastian has revealed how much the channel has earned from YouTube ads, confirming that LTT has generated about $26 million in Google AdSense revenue over its lifetime.

LTT has been one of YouTube’s largest tech channels for more than a decade, regularly posting long-form videos throughout its peak growth years.

Sebastian discussed the business’s revenue and expenses in an interview with YouTube John Yoshaei.

How much Linus makes from YouTube

Yoshaei asked if he could share YouTube’s analytics for their channel, which displays the total amount earned from ads, and Linus said he was an open book. The number sits at roughly $26 million, which represents all ad revenue generated through Google’s AdSense system on LTT videos over the history of the channel.

Although this is a large number, Linus explained that expenses are also large, noting that they have paid out far more than this in salaries alone.

He clarified that the $26 million total reflects all historical ad revenue paid out through YouTube, independent of sponsorships or other business operations linked to Linus Media Group.

Additionally, AdSense only makes up about 10% of the company’s earnings, with the vast majority coming from “products”, branded videos, and sponsorships.

He also shared additional context about earnings during the channel’s peak monthly performance. According to Sebastian, LTT once reached about 60 million views per month, with an RPM of roughly $2 to $2.50 at the time. He said this put monthly YouTube ad revenue in the region of $120,000 to $150,000, based solely on long-form uploads.

Sebastian noted that these figures came before YouTube introduced revenue sharing for Shorts and other monetization changes. At the time, LTT’s income from the platform was driven almost entirely by standard long-form videos.
