Twitch streamer Lacari has been banned from the platform following controversy over files briefly shown on his stream.

The ban comes after Lacari accidentally displayed multiple Notepad tabs on January 22 with filenames that appeared to reference illegal and explicit content. He quickly closed the window on stream and later addressed the situation during a broadcast.

At the time, Lacari said the files were downloaded without his intent while browsing a website and blamed the incident on auto-downloads and a Windows issue. He also showed himself deleting the file and running malware scans live, asking viewers to move on.

“I was surfing a site, the sh*t got downloaded, I didn’t trigger a f**king download, it got downloaded, I opened up the text document, I saw what was in it, I deleted the text document. I deleted it. But the problem with Windows 11, is that even if you delete the text document, it apparently still stays there,” Lacari said on stream.

Several high-profile streamers reacted to the clip at the time, questioning how such files could appear accidentally. Streamer Quin69 tested whether deleted notepad files could remain on a PC after deletion when using Windows 11, but was unable to replicate any such bug.

Some of Lacari’s moderators have reportedly quit his channel, with one writing, “I hope that this ‘somehow’ was a mistake or a virus but it’s looking real bad. I’m unmodding myself and unassociating with you.”

Twitch does not comment on community guidelines violations to protect the privacy of streamers.
