Kai Cenat has revealed just how long his Fortnite skin had been in the works now that it has finally been released.
Fortnite’s ‘Icon Series’ has allowed Epic Games to celebrate some of the biggest creators and celebrities that are fans of their battle royale. The likes of Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, Sabrina Carpenter, Bruno Mars, and Cody ‘Clix’ Conrod have all been immortalized in-game.
These Icon skins are released on a much more limited basis than other legendary skins, but a new one was finally dropped on September 10 for Kai Cenat.
The AMP and Twitch star, who has regularly made Fortnite a part of his streams, has a skin, emote, backbling, pickaxe, and even Lego styles. Epic have gone all out with it.
Kai’s Fortnite skin has multiple styles
According to Kai, he has been waiting well over a year for the skin to release and has had to jump through plenty of different hoops for it.
“What people don’t know, when y’all be requesting somebody to have their skin in the game, it’s probably already in the works,” he told fans. “I’ve been in communication with Fortnite for about a year now to launch it.
“My s*it has been in the work since 2024. Literally. It takes a long time! They’ve got to scan your body, go over ideas, creatives. That’s the hardest part, like, telling them exactly what you want. You don’t want it to be corny or cheesy.”
The Twitch superstar also noted that he had to get a sign-off from Kanye West because his dance emote uses the intro of his ‘Violent Crimes’ song.
“Kanye himself had to sign off on this, chat,” he added, showing off the dance.
As ever, his Icon skin won’t be around for too long. And, when it does disappear from the Fortnite item shop, there is no telling when it will return either.
