Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold has been named the least durable smartphone of 2025 by YouTuber JerryRigEverything, following its dramatic explosion during a durability test back in October.
The foldable device received the designation during JerryRigEverything’s annual 2025 durability awards, which highlight the strongest and weakest phones tested on the channel over the past year. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold was singled out due to a catastrophic incident that occurred during its bend test.
“If I had to pick the least durable smartphone of 2025, it’s gotta go to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold,” he said. “Normally, I’d give folding phones a pass for breaking, but Samsung’s normal folding phones didn’t break, and Google’s folding phones have all broken in the same spot for three years in a row. This year’s phone even exploded.
“As a manufacturer, if Google knows there is a weak spot in their design and they don’t address it, that’s kind of a big deal.”

Pixel 10 Pro Fold failed mid-test on camera
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold first drew attention in October when it catastrophically failed during a standard durability video. During the bend test portion of the evaluation, the device ignited and visibly caught fire, forcing the test to be stopped.
The failure occurred under structural stress, with flames appearing shortly after pressure was applied to the phone’s frame. No injuries were reported, and the incident was captured entirely on camera.

- Most innovative smartphone: Red Magic 11 Pro
