Japanese energy company ENEOS is going viral after building a luxury ‘high-rise’ apartment for cats using nearly 100 cardboard boxes, complete with working lights and more.

February 22 is Cat Day in Japan. To celebrate, one of the country’s largest petroleum companies is going all-out with a special product to help felines live in luxury.

ENEOS, Japan’s leading oil company, took a sharp turn from its usual focus on petroleum products to create a special cat-sized apartment building.

The four-story ‘high-rise’ structure stands at 2.3 meters tall (7.5 ft) and comes with heated flooring to keep cats warm in the winter months. It even includes a scratching post entrance and an elaborate rooftop garden, as well as a spiral staircase for its furry residents to climb.

The cat house is worth approximately 6,000 yen (~$39 USD) and was constructed using 98 cardboard boxes. Cat lovers can come visit the high-rise from February 19 – 22 at the Tokyo Wave Line venue, and are even welcome to bring their own kitties along for a tour.

ENEOS even created a special advertisement showing off the building’s construction, narrated by famous anime voice actor Yuji Kaiji, known for voicing Attack on Titan’s Eren Jaeger.

“There were moments during recording that made me laugh unconsciously,” Kaiji said in a statement. “I hope that you will enjoy the video in time for Cat Day, and that it will inspire you to reconsider your electricity.”

ENEOS says that Japanese homes with pets tend to use 20% more energy than those without, as owners need to keep their space warm for their furry companions while they’re out and about. To mitigate this issue, ENEOS is proposing heated pet houses like their cat high-rise to help owners save on energy costs.

This viral installation comes shortly after Chinese YouTuber Xing Zhilei finished the construction of an entire cat-sized city, complete with a working subway and smart appliances, for his cats to live in.
