A zombie-themed ship experience in Japan is giving guests the chance to experience horror firsthand at sea.
“Obaken Zombie Ship -No Escape-” is an upcoming two-hour survival horror experience set aboard a real ferry at sea, created by Obaken, known for its haunted house and escape room attractions.
It’s reportedly the first event of its kind in Japan, giving guests the chance to experience what it’s like to be aboard a cruise ship while a zombie infection breaks out.
The experience offers multiple ticket options, all of which include an all-you-can-eat nigiri sushi dinner at S-Pulse Dream Plaza’s Tairyo Market.

If you’re wondering what exactly the experience will be like, the company has yet to elaborate about it, though they did give an interesting hint from their post on X.
Guests will “never know what will happen” in the 120-minute cruise, they wrote. Looking at the theme, though, perhaps it’s safe to assume there may be some kind of infected passengers running around, or survival-style tasks, like the ones in an escape room.
The horror experience itself takes place on March 8, 2026, at the Shimizu Port Terminal.
Although the event is only happening for one day, guests can choose between two sailings. The first runs from 4 PM to 6 PM (check-in at 3:40 PM), while the second runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (check-in at 6:10 PM).
Tickets to the ship are also already on sale through their official website, with three courses to choose from.
Priced at 29,300 yen or roughly $191 USD, the first two courses are essentially the same. They both offer you the same round-trip Shinkansen with limited express tickets, shuttle bus service, and the all-you-can-eat Nigiri sushi dinner, which has a 50-minute limit.
The only difference is the departure time, one is for the 4PM sailing, while the other is for the latter. Meanwhile, those looking for a cheaper option can opt for the third course, priced at 21,300 yen or about $139 USD.
This option still includes the cruise experience and sushi dinner, but does not cover the transport, meaning people must make their own way to the venue. It’s also only valid for the 4PM departure.
