Prominent YouTuber and voice actor Sean ‘Jacksepticeye’ McLoughlin has revealed that he will not be holding his annual holiday charity stream, ‘Thanksmas,’ this year.
Every year, Jacksepticeye collaborates with a group of internet stars and A-List celebrities to raise money for charity during the holiday season. He’s been organizing these fundraisers since 2017, and has raised a total of $26 million in the seven years it’s been running.
Dubbed ‘Thankmas,’ a humorous combination of the holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas, McLoughlin’s friends and viewers have donated to nonprofits like World Central Kitchen, New Story, Red Nose Day, and many more.
As the 2025 holiday season approaches, fans are curious as to the YouTuber’s plans for this year’s Thankmas stream, something he addressed in a livestream on November 17.
Jacksepticeye pauses Thankmas charity drive for 2025
In the stream, Jacksepticeye revealed that he will not organize a Thankmas charity drive this year, citing two specific reasons behind his decision.
For one, McLoughlin explained that he is extremely tired from all his activities this year — from promoting his Top ‘O the Mornin’ coffee line to voicing a major character in AdHoc’s hit game Dispatch, he’s been quite busy and feels burnt out.
“I need a break,” he admitted. “I don’t want to keep doing charity stuff just for the sake of doing charity stuff, and it’s expected every year. This year was pretty tough, physically…I’m just not in the headspace for it. So, I feel like it’s just not a good idea to do it if I’m just doing it for the sake of it.
“You should be doing charity stuff because you have a vested interest in the charity you’re doing [a fundraiser for], or you just want to rally your community or do something. You shouldn’t be doing charity just for the sake of it.”
Additionally, McLoughlin expressed concern for his fanbase’s finances, saying he’s seen the state of the global economy and doesn’t want to ask his viewers to donate to Thankmas when their own pockets are running low.
“As the year was going on, I started to notice that people just don’t have money. Not just for my stuff, but I’ve seen it all over the internet and all over the world. People have just had a hard year financially.
“I don’t want to get to the end of the year after promoting like comic books and coffee and then
ask people to give money to a cause when you probably need your money more right now.”
He urged his viewers to “take a breather” this year and enjoy the holidays, saying if they’ve saved any money for the charity drive to spend it on themselves or their loved ones.
He also confirmed that Thankmas will be returning in 2026, and will likely see a restructuring from the live audience format it had in 2024.
Fans’ reactions to the news have been overwhelmingly positive as they offer suggestions and look forward to next year’s stream.
This is the latest big news to happen for Thankmas after a donator gave $200,000 during Valkyrae’s stream to benefit the charity drive in 2024, leaving her completely speechless.
