Star VTuber Ironmouse opened up about an “incredibly uncomfortable” conversation she had with streamers RaKai and Ray at the Streamer Awards that left her “shaking.”
The 2025 Streamer Awards took place on December 6, bringing together the net’s top entertainers to celebrate the best and brightest among them.
This year’s show sparked a few viral moments, mostly due to divisive jokes told by hosts QTCinderella and FanFan. However, another incident that took place off-stage is also sparking a viral conversation on social media.
Ironmouse says RaKai & Ray asked her “invasive” questions
A few days after the Awards, VTubing icon Ironmouse opened up about her experience at the event, where she addressed comments from critical viewers accusing her of trying to “appeal” or “fit in” with other broadcasters, specifically RaKai and Ray.
These two streamers caught up with Ironmouse at the Streamer Awards, where they greeted her and called her a “legend” before launching into questions about where she was streaming from and what she looked like.
Ironmouse appeared to play into the conversation, saying they could ask her “anything” they wanted and joking that she looked “ugly, that’s why I’m a VTuber.”
The pair then asked the VTuber about her ethnicity before saying goodbye and making their way elsewhere in the Wiltern Theater.
This interaction sparked a debate within Ironmouse’s community, which she addressed in her Twitch stream, saying the conversation made her feel “incredibly uncomfortable.”
“You have no idea what I went through in that moment,” she said. “I will tell you, one hundred percent, I was very uncomfortable, to the point where I was shaking. I already knew that I was gonna get asked something terrible. I knew they were gonna say something rude to me.
“When people ask me a stupid question, I give them a stupid answer. They asked me what I looked like, so I gave them the dumbest answer that I could give them.
“I was incredibly uncomfortable. I wanted to get out of there. I did not want to talk to them because I knew they were going to ask me very invasive questions. …I was trying to be cordial. I was trying to be nice. It wasn’t me trying to appease anybody. It was me answering in a stupid fashion to get them to leave me alone.”
Mouse’s statement about the situation has gone viral within the streaming community. While her fans are rallying behind her, other viewers were left puzzled, feeling as though RaKai and Ray were merely being curious.
“I’m sure they were just curious when asking, but how does that leave you shaking behind a screen?” one asked on X.
“I agree that Ray and RaKai have asked uncomfortable and invasive questions to people, but this particular interaction seemed rather wholesome,” another posted. “They tried to be respectful to her. Even when Ray said, ‘Can I ask you something?’ He caught himself with, ‘Nevermind,’ but Ironmouse insisted.”
“Was this when she said she’s Puerto Rican and they stuck their tongues out? Like, were they implying she might be a baddie cuz she’s Latina? ‘Cause I can understand why a girl would get uncomfortable if two random dudes stuck their tongues out because you’re Latina,” another said.
This is the latest statement from Ironmouse regarding the 2025 Streamer Awards after she defended fellow VTuber The Burnt Peanut after he won VTuber of the Year.
