Wild footage shown during a congressional hearing appears to capture a US Hellfire missile bouncing off a glowing orb, and the internet is demanding answers.

At a House Oversight subcommittee meeting on UFO transparency and whistleblower protections, Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) presented the clip. The video, recorded by a US military MQ-9 Reaper drone off the coast of Yemen on October 30, 2024, shows the drone firing a missile at a luminous, fast-moving object.

The missile clearly connects with the orb, but instead of exploding, the object continues on its trajectory as if nothing happened. Lawmakers at the hearing stressed that no known US technology could survive a direct Hellfire strike, raising speculation about what exactly was caught on camera.

Online, theories exploded. “This is a demonstration test to test the capabilities of OUR hyper advanced technology,” one user claimed. Another argued, “US Hellfire missile bounced off the natural electromagnetic membrane of an intelligent sentient entity, perhaps the first ‘alien’ lifeform encountered on Earth.”

Others went even further, insisting, “Not a stretch to conclude that if the aliens wanted to, they could kick our asses. They come in peace, they just don’t want to hang out with us.”

Skeptics, however, weren’t buying it. UFO analyst Mick West pushed back, saying the clip has been misinterpreted. “The missile was NOT ‘split,’ it didn’t bounce off,” he explained. “It just flew through the target, breaking it into pieces and causing it to fall out of the sky.”

The footage arrives at a time of heightened interest in potential extraterrestrial encounters. Recently, 3I/ATLAS, the third known interstellar object to pass through our solar system, captured attention after Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb suggested it could be some form of alien craft, given its unusual brightness and other factors.

While Neil deGrasse Tyson argued the scientific approach requires more data, even he couldn’t outright rule out the possibility of some sort of alien technology.

For now, nothing is confirmed, and experts warn that theories of alien spacecraft should be taken with a grain of salt. But with clips like this surfacing on the congressional floor, imaginations are running wild and pressure is mounting for more transparency.
