Hasan Piker has doubled down on denying claims that he used a shock collar on his dog Kaya, uploading a TikTok showing him directly addressing viewers during a Twitch stream after the controversy spread online.
The controversy began when a short clip showing Kaya yelp behind Hasan while he was live went viral. Viewers speculated that he had used a shock collar to control her movements near her bed, and the accusation quickly gained traction across social media.
Hasan posts TikTok about “collar gate”
In a TikTok posted on October 14, Hasan spliced together clips of him reacting to chatters in his stream. He reads messages from chat from viewers who felt the controversy had been overblown, to which he said, “The greatest antidote to slander is observable reality,” pointing toward Kaya behind him on camera.
“You can literally see she’s fine. She’s chilling right there. I must’ve shocked her to sleep. I wonder how many people have unironically come in here to be like, ‘Yo, this guy’s a f**king real monster, huh? Let me go see how he treats this poor dog.’ And then they come in here, and Kaya’s just like chilling or coming up to me, trying to get on my lap. And then they’re like, ‘Okay, maybe that wasn’t the case.’ There has to be! There has to be at least a couple hundred that have come in here to antagonize initially, and then they’re like, ‘You know, I realized that maybe I was dumb.’”
Responding to another chatter who apologized for initially believing the claims, Hasan added: “The greatest antidote to a faucet of lies is observable reality.”
The TikTok post has gained traction as Hasan’s response to the accusations; however, debate around the original stream clip has continued to circulate, with many, including prominent streamers like xQc, insisting he did, in fact, use a shock collar.
Streamer QTCinderella said that she visited Hasan, and the collar appeared to have the shock ‘prongs’ removed, and only a vibration function.
Hasan claims that Kaya “yelped when she was getting off the bed” because she clipped her foot, and that he does not use any kind of shock collar or similar device, describing the rumor as “insane.”
This TikTok upload marks Hasan’s latest attempt to shut down the allegations, following his initial on-stream denial.
