Football stars Bradley Barcola and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have come under fire for being involved in the Kick stream with Jean Pormanove just days before his death.
On August 16, French streamer Jean Pormanove, real name Raphaël Graven, died in his sleep. The 46-year-old’s death came while live on stream following 10 apparent “days of torture” from fellow streamers Naruto and Safine.
Graven’s death has put Kick under the microscope, with both the French and Australian governments now investigating the platform. France has launched two investigations into the death, with the minister for digital affairs, Clara Chappaz, saying: “Kick did not do everything possible to stop the broadcast of dangerous content.”
Kick and the streamers involved are not the only ones in hot water, however, as two football stars are also coming under fire.
Barcola & Aubameyang under fire for Kick appearances
Paris-Saint Germain star Bradley Barcola and Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both appeared in the days before Graven’s death, giving him words of encouragement to finish the stream.
Aubameyang said: “OK, JP and Coudoux, turn on your brains because now we have to finish the game”.
Barcola, who donated €1000 to the stream, added: “Hey guys, big strength for the challenge. We’re all with you, we know you can do it. JP and Coudoux, set the alarm please, because things are really bad right now.”
As per The Telegraph, both players have been questioned about their involvement. Barcola’s representatives clarified that footage showing him was filmed at the beginning of August. Aubameyang, however, has not responded.
Former French international Adil Rami was also involved in the broadcast, appearing to give boxing tips to Coudoux, the other streamer involved with Pormanove.
As noted, the trio have been blasted by fans on social media over their involvement, with many demanding the French police get involved.
“It’s infuriating to see Barcola giving props to jerks like that, and even more so while wearing the club’s jersey, he’s embarrassing,” another said.
