Football fans lucky enough to get FIFA World Cup tickets in LA are going to need to dish out hundreds of dollars for parking, which is still more than a mile away from the stadium.
The biggest World Cup yet is set to kick off this June in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, with more teams than ever competing for global glory.
Los Angeles is set to host 8 games in the 2026 World Cup, including a quarterfinal matchup, and the prices to the contests are relatively affordable.
According to The Athletic, lower-tier category 3 matches at SoFi Stadium are expected to sell for under $200. That’s the good news.
The bad news? The parking is another story entirely, and it’s going to cost way more to park than it is to watch the game.
FIFA is charging up to $300 for 2026 World Cup parking
Despite tickets to games being decently priced, the parking to marque games like USA vs Paraguay is listed at $300.
Even parking passes for those lower-tiered matches like Iran vs New Zealand fetch a pretty penny (well, they did until the cent was discontinued), selling for a whopping $250.
Parking options are reportedly centered around garages by Intuit Dome, the Clippers’ recently opened new home arena, with FIFA estimating fans could face about a 20-minute walk to SoFi Stadium, depending on security lines and designated entry routes.
By comparison, parking at those same garages usually runs below $60 for NBA matchups and stays under $100 for most large-scale events.
FIFA is defending the pricing.
In a statement to The Athletic, a spokesperson said: “Parking prices are determined based on local market conditions and benchmarking against comparable major events previously held in each host city.”
Given the distance and the price, fans going to games may want to plan accordingly, with some on social media noticing that booking hotels within a similar distance costs less than parking.
