Former Rate My Takeaway host Danny Mallin has returned to YouTube with a new channel following his “heartbreaking” split with his old channel.

Back in 2020, Rate My Takeaway popped up on YouTube to do as the name says, rate local takeaways and provide some insight for viewers. The channel was an instant hit and has become a big success in the UK.

However, after more than five years together, host Danny Mallin announced that he would be quitting the channel back in September. Mallin implied that he was not an equal partner in the business despite being the face of things.

“I’ve always said that it’s three of us, that we split things equally… but from day one I’ve struggled to achieve that because, for whatever reasons, I don’t get access to certain things or I can’t do this,” he said.

Danny noted there would be “legal action” over the fallout, calling it a “heartbreaking decision” to leave the channel. He has remained on YouTube with his ‘Mr and Mrs Yorkshire’ channel with his family. However, Mallin has now revived his own eating videos after a “turbulent” few months.

Rate My Takeaway became a huge hit online.

The new channel, Danny Vs Food, goes back to the old roots of Mallin sitting outside a takeaway – rain or shine – with his iconic fold-out table and chair.

“This is going to my channel, it’s going to be my channel only. I’m going to have cameraman Sam,” he said during his announcement video in Liverpool. “We’re all together, we’re all one big happy family, but this is going to be my channel.

“You’re going to see my travelling around, eating takeaways, maybe a restaurant or two, but just me, the table and chair, back in the rain like it is today.”

According to Danny, the channel, which has already gotten 23,000 subscribers in a few days, will have “a couple” of videos each week.

“Up and down the country, all around the world, we’re going to be smashing it,” he added.
