Of Elon Musk’s 14 children, his youngest twins carry names pulled straight from fantasy and gaming, nodding to The Lord of the Rings and FromSoftware’s Elden Ring.

On January 7, Tesla Owners Silicon Valley shared a photo of Elon Musk with the twins, alongside a quote from the SpaceX CEO calling having children “a statement of optimism.” Musk jumped into the replies and broke down the meaning behind their names.

The twins were born to Musk and Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink.

Musk explained that his son’s first name, Strider, comes from Aragorn’s alias in The Lord of the Rings. The nickname was given to Aragorn by the people of the Shire and Bree, referencing his life as a Ranger and his ability to travel quickly and quietly on foot.

The middle name, Sekhar, is a tribute to physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, whose work fundamentally shaped our understanding of stars, stellar evolution, and black holes.

His daughter’s name, Comet Azure, leans fully into gaming. Musk said she’s named after Comet Azur, one of the most powerful spells in Elden Ring. The spell fires a massive magical comet capable of dealing devastating damage from extreme range.

Musk famously named Elden Ring his personal Game of the Year in 2022, even as players roasted him online for what many called the “worst build ever.”

Elon’s love of video games has been public for years. He has previously talked about classics, modern RPGs, and even floated the idea of starting his own AI-powered game studio to make games “great again.”
