A delivery driver has gone viral for refusing to hand over a customer’s food after a tip was not included, an incident that took place as severe snowstorms disrupted parts of the United States.
In the video, widely shared online, the driver, delivering a pizza, was filmed by the customer’s doorbell camera approaching their home and knocking on the door.
After signing and returning the delivery receipt to the driver without a tip, the driver, turning and walking away with the pizza in hand, can be heard saying “You can come get it.”
“We’re not delivering for no tips today,” they continued, returning to their car. “You’ll have to come and get it from the store,” they added, after the customer asked whether they meant retrieving the food from their car.
Customer says they intended to tip
According to Inside Edition, the customer, Jaylen Howard, had intended to give the driver a $15 tip for the $29 order.
“So when he came, we did the transaction or whatever. I got the receipt and signed for it, and he snatched it out of my hand and walked away,” Howard told the show during an interview. Asked whether he received his order, he responded, “Yeah, I got the pizza, another guy came out.”
The incident took place during severe winter weather affecting large parts of the U.S. At the time the video was recorded on January 25, 2026, snowstorms were impacting travel and deliveries across the country, including the Washington, D.C. area, close to where Howard lives.
Earlier this month, New York City expanded minimum pay protections for app-based delivery workers, guaranteeing higher hourly earnings regardless of tips.
