Texts from MrBeast revealed in court documents show that the YouTube star had plans to launch MrBeast Burger 2.0 in collaboration with McDonald’s or Burger King.
Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson famously launched his now-defunct fast food brand, ‘MrBeast Burger,’ in late 2020.
The initial hype surrounding the company can’t be understated; by 2022, it had earned over $100 million in revenue, and the opening of its first brick-and-mortar restaurant saw a crowd of more than ten thousand fans show up in the hopes of meeting MrBeast and ordering a burger.
Just over two years later, the brand collapsed amidst a lawsuit between the influencer and Virtual Dining Concepts (VDC), a company that specializes in “ghost kitchens” that Donaldson had used to expand MrBeast Burger nationwide.
MrBeast opened up his own fast food chain in 2020.
In 2023, the YouTuber explained that he was ready to “move on” from his fast-food venture, saying that due to the size and scope of the business he was unable to control for quality.
Quality was the deciding factor in Donaldson parting ways with VDC; fans complained of receiving “raw” burgers and overall subpar meals, turning MrBeast Burger into a viral fiasco.
MrBeast sued VDC for this catastrophic decrease in quality, as well as the damage the drama had done to his image as one of the net’s biggest stars. He also alleged that he hadn’t seen a dime of the $100M his brand had supposedly made.
DexertoVDC countersued for that amount, accusing the YouTuber of “failing to honor his contractual obligations” with them and claiming his lawsuit was “riddled with false statements and inaccuracies.”
MrBeast wanted to relaunch ‘MrBeast Burger’ with help from McDonald’s
As reported by Business Insider, Donaldson was brewing a “giga brain play” for a comeback during the heat of the lawsuit in summer 2023, which was revealed in texts shown in court not long after.
The messages show Donaldson hoping to request termination of his partnership with VDC and ban them from ever using his name, image, brand, or any likeness thereof in their future ventures.
The YouTuber also planned to relaunch the company as ‘MrBeast Burger 2.0.’ This time, rather than relying on ghost kitchens, he wanted to partner with already-established fast food giants like McDonald’s or Burger King.
YouTube: Lewis HowesAfter earning $100 million in sales, MrBeast hoped to get bought out for around $300 – $400 million in what he called a “legendary dub.”
However, it doesn’t seem like this plan has yet come to fruition. The MrBeast Burger brand has remained in limbo ever since, leaving the influencer and Beast Games host to focus on other endeavors like creating his own phone company, his own banking app, and ending child slavery in Africa with his Feastables chocolate bars.
