A couple’s wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara was interrupted in the best possible way when their corgi ring bearer decided to cool off mid-aisle.
Elizabeth and Dominic Valenzuela’s 1-year-old corgi, Kobe, was tasked with carrying the rings at their August 8 wedding at Villa & Vine. After successfully delivering them, the pup stopped by a fountain in the center of the aisle and jumped straight in.
Guests burst into laughter as Kobe began splashing around and lapping at the water. The moment was captured by The Wedding Leash, a pet attendant service that shared the clip on Instagram on October 2, where it quickly went viral. “Wedding fail? Our ring bearer, Kobe the Corgi, decided to go for a swim in the middle of the wedding,” the caption read.
Bride and groom thought it was “amazing”
Wedding pet attendant Lou Gomez, who handled Kobe throughout the event, said the moment became an instant highlight. “Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and it certainly was a highlight for the couple,” Gomez told PEOPLE.
The couple also confirmed to the publication that they weren’t upset about the unscripted splash. “I was shocked for a split second and then remembered Kobe is unapologetically himself,” Elizabeth said. Dominic added, “I thought it was amazing and the most on-brand thing he could do.”
Elizabeth and Dominic adopted Kobe in December 2024 after spotting a neighborhood sign advertising corgi puppies. Born on August 24, the same day known as Kobe Bryant Day, the couple decided to name him after the late basketball legend.
Kobe’s viral fountain moment now joins the couple’s wedding memories, which they described as a “fun day that reflected each of us.”
Viral dog-related news has taken over social media throughout 2025, including one dog walker who dresses up as a giant inflatable Dachshund while walking his pet, and another who went viral after leading a deputy to the dog’s grandmother, who needed help.
