Chipotle is bringing back its most searched menu item, with carne asada returning to restaurants across the United States and Canada starting September 4.

The steak option first launched in 2019 and has since become one of the chain’s most requested limited-time items.

According to Google data cited by Chipotle, carne asada was the most searched limited-time menu item in 2024 and the second most searched across all national restaurant launches that year. This marks the fourth time it has been offered.

The return is set to align with the start of football season, and Chipotle is pairing the release with promotions for fans. On September 15, customers who wear a college football jersey into a restaurant after 5 p.m. local time can receive a buy-one-get-one-free entrée.

Digital partnership with EA Sports

Carne asada will also appear digitally in EA Sports College Football 26. In the game’s Road to Glory mode, players can sign a virtual NIL deal with Chipotle to promote the carne asada item, with skill boosts offered as part of the feature.

From September 8 through September 30, orders placed through the Chipotle app or website that include carne asada will also qualify for free delivery.
